We recently received the following message from Avista Utilities:

“…Avista’s natural gas rates will decrease by almost 11 percent by January 1st, 2013. That brings prices to near-2004 levels. This is great news for our customers; unfortunately, it will impact our ability to offer certain conservation programs. You can read about the rate decrease at this link: http://www.avistautilities.com/community/blog/archive/2012/08/29/Oregon-rate-decrease.aspx

The programs that are currently affected are the following:
-$50 Water Heater-Tank
-$100 Bonus: Installing Heating & Water Heating
-$100 Chimney Damper
-$150 Direct Vent Space Heater
-$200 Water Heater-Tankless

If you have been thinking about doing any of the above, now is the time to do it. Work must be completed and all paperwork in to Avista post marked no later than December 31st, 2012. Avista has made it very clear there is no grace period.

In the notice we received, it went on to say “Avista will continue to offer incentives on all other existing programs such as furnaces, thermostats, weatherization, and qualified commercial projects. However, all conservation programs are currently under review and may change in the future.”

If you are thinking about upgrading to a gas system from electric or want to go to a tankless water heater now is the time to do it with gas prices dropping and some, possibly more in the future, rebates going away. Contact us at one of our three offices to talk to our sales staff and get a free estimate on the best system for you and your family.
