Steel ductwork prior to being cleaned.

The same ductwork after it was cleaned.

Our duct truck, affectionately known as the Dr. Seuss truck, in action.

Indooor Air Quality (IAQ) is a phrase that we are hearing more and more often. What it is referring to is the quality of the air you breath inside your home and your work place. With energy efficiency becoming a priority, structures are being built tighter. A tighter structure means the structure is not “breathing” as is typical in older structures through openings in the stucture, around doors and windows and so forth. This in turn means a lack of fresh air in the structure and therefore stale air with potentially high levels of pollutants. The pollutants can be anything from VOCs to dander. There are many facets to the IAQ topic. In this article we are going to cover duct cleaning. There is debate on the necessity of duct cleaning but as you can see in the pictures above, ductwork does collect a great deal of dust and debris. The air you breath in your home is continually cycling through the ducts and all that dust and debris. For those of us with allergies that can be an issue.

At Pacific Air Comfort, we offer the best duct cleaning equipment, manned by knowledgeable Technicians. Using our duct truck (seen above), we clean one duct at a time. While our equipment is removing debris from one duct, the others are blocked allowing for maximum suction at the vent being used to access the ductwork. The debris is carried out of your home through hoses and into the storage bin contained within the duct truck.
Did you know?
  • People spend 60-90% of their time inside. (American Lung Association)
  • 1 out of 6 people who suffer from allergies do so because of the direct relationship to the fungi and bacteria in the air duct system. (Total Health Magazine)
  • More than 50 million Americans suffer from allergies & 10-12 million from Asthma. (American College of Allergists)
  • 50% of illnesses are either caused by or aggrevated by polluted indoor air. (American College of Allergists)
  • The levels of some hazardous pollutants in indoor air has been found to be up to 70 times more than outdoor air.
